On Thursday, the students went to school with their partners for the morning. After 5th period we headed to the Mercedes Museum, which we reached on foot via a path along the Neckar. We spent a couple of hours at the museum, learning about the history of the automobile. Later in the afternoon, we had the traditional BBA-Wiggy soccer game. I think the Germans won, even with a couple of extra Germans added to our team. But we put up a very good fight - a respectable showing for the Americans for sure! Most important, of course, is that everyone had fun.
On Friday, we left early to head to Meersburg, on Lake Constance. The original plan for the day had included a boat ride on the lake from Friedrichshafen to Meersburg and some time to swim in the lake (which is the biggest lake in Germany). However, we adjusted the plan in order to get back in time for everyone to watch Germany play in the quarter-finals. So, there was a little time to explore Meersburg and then we had a tour of the Meersburg castle, which was quite interesting. We got back on the train and headed back to Stuttgart - the German students actually met the group on the train and they all headed off to watch the game together! Deutschland!!!!
The weekend has nothing official on the plan - time with the families, experiencing German life.
